Managing stress needs to be regular process, it crosses into career, work, family, social. 𝐋𝐨𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲:
𝟏. 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 – Can I eliminate the source of this stress?
• yes now
• yes in a month
• yes in 3 months
• yes in 6 months
• yes next year
• no, not in the near future
𝟐. 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞 – Ok so I can’t eliminate it right now (or maybe ever), is there anything I can do or change to reduce the stress this source give me? Try that.
Whatever is left is what you need to “manage”.
Here’s a few stresses that I used this method with
👉I dislike the rubbish this person posts in Insta/Facebook, eliminate now by unfollowing.
👉I don’t enjoy my job. I can’t eliminate it because I need money. I will change jobs next year. Is there anything I can do to reduce its effect on me now? I suggest to my manager to change certain things that make my job difficult / stressful – 𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩!
𝟑. 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞 – I have these things in my life that cause me stress, what can I do to manage it?
What stress management (leastmode) activity can I do:
• once a year
• Every 6 months
• Every 3 months
• Every month
• Every week
• Every day
The amount you need of each of these is individual – the more stress you have, the more stress management you need.
On the Management side this is my Leastmode activities
👉Once a year – do a weekend course in something new pottery, woodwork, painting.
👉Every 3 months I budgeted €100-150 to spend on myself either getting my hair done, having a facial, going for a massage
👉Every month I go for a day trip / do a alternative therapy session just talking.
👉Once a week I tried to colour, watch a documentary, make a jigsaw, do yoga.
👉Everyday I try to read, do 5 mins of deep breathing, have a cuddle with my cat/dog etc
